Torre de la Horadada, guide to the Costa Blanca resort with map, pictures and weather information.

Torre de la Horadada - Costa Blanca - Spain

Torre de la Horadada Costa Blanca: Located right at the southern end of the Costa Blanca region, close to its border with Murcia and the Costa Calida, Torre de la Horadada is basically the coastal section of the town of Pilar de la Horadada, which is just a kilometre or so inland. It has developed its own range of facilities mostly aimed at its visiting tourists, and for the main requirements visitors need to head along to Pilar.

The town of course gets its name from its historic watchtower (“Torre”) which stands today, next to the marina and Club Nautico.

The watchtower was constructed (as were many others) to protect the area from pirate attacks, which were common between the thirteenth and seventeenth centuries, after the Christian reconquest drove the Moors out of the region and eventually out of Spain altogether.

Communication with other towers along the coast was made by lighting bonfires and thus a warning could be passed along the coast, allowing other towns to be forearmed.

The main attractions for visitors to Torre de la Horadada are its sandy beaches, its fine climate and its pretty marina, which houses the Club Náutico de Torre de la Horadada. The marina has over 500 mooring spaces.

Torre de la Horadada Tower and MarinaThere are a number of beaches of varying sizes around Torre, and these can of course get pretty busy during the summer months. Some larger beaches can be found on the Orihuela Costa, which is to the north of Torre de la Horadada, and along the Mar Menor coastline to the south. On the Orihuela Costa, you will find some popular resorts, my favourite is Cabo Roig (More Information Here).
